The Commentaries

The ancient Greek commentaries on Aristotle were gathered together and edited in the series 'Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca' [CAG] (Berlin: Reimer, 1882-1909). They are still available from de Gruyter. The volumes are also now available online at archive.org.

The Ancient Commentators on Aristotle project has translated a large portion of the contents of the CAG, along with a wide range of related texts and fragments of commentaries more recently discovered. On this website you can find:

  • A complete list of translation volumes in order of publication
  • A list of translations arranged by author
  • A concordance between the CAG and the translation volumes

The Ancient Commentators volumes were published by Duckworth, from 1987 to 2010. Since 2011, when Duckworth's academic titles joined Bloomsbury Academic, the volumes have been published under the Bristol Classical Press imprint by Bloomsbury Academic.
